Protecting Our Lands for the Next Seven Generations and Beyond
Our Mission: Protect and care for the land within the traditional Peskotomuhkati territory, especially within the Skutik watershed, for the next seven generations and beyond.
Our Vision: A future where the next seven generations can safely practice our traditional rights on our lands to benefit the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional health of our community members and allies.
WELCOME TO OUR TERRITORY
We, the Peskotomuhkati Nation at Skutik, have protected and stewarded our lands since time immemorial.
Due to colonization, our people, the lands, and the waters, have been severely mistreated, exploited, harmed, and stolen. As a Nation, we have always been here and will continue to protect and stewards our territory for the next seven generations and beyond.
Since 2019, we have been working with partners to establish an Indigenous Protected and Cultural Area to protect the waters and lands along the Skutik River.
We are proud to be a part of a network of Indigenous resilience and resurgence through the establishment of Indigenous-led protected areas like the Skutik IPCA.
